About The Course
This course is about the Populist Era in the United States. Some Historians debate on the actual dates of the Populist Era, but we are going to stick with 1890 through 1896. Now, some Historians, including myself, believe that the book and movie The Wizard of Oz are based on the Populist Era. That's pretty awesome right? Throughout this course, we will be referring back to The Wizard of Oz and trying to make connections between the historical figures and the characters in the book and movie. You will learn a lot about the causes and effects of the Populist Era. I do ask that before you delve into the course, you take the pre-assessment located near the bottom of this page. When in doubt, "follow the yellow brick road."
About The Instructor
Hi! My name is Alex Bosarge and I will be your instructor for this course. I am a 24 year-old wife and mother. I am married to my middle school sweetheart and we have a beautiful little 4 year-old little girl named Collier Jaclynn. I graduated from Gautier High School in 2010. I graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2012. Then, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Currently, I am enrolled at the University of Southern Mississippi in order to obtain my Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology. I am also currently enrolled in Teach Mississippi Institute at Ole Miss in order to obtain my teaching license for grades 7-12. Now, enough about me and on to the course!
P.S. My daughter and I love The Wizard of Oz and I love History, which is why I chose this topic, just in case you were wondering.
